Choose your narrative to get what you want.

Self-development

You’re in love, but you’re not thriving in your relationship. You were happy, and then everything fell apart. You have everything you want, and yet nothing works.

We can find countless examples in our lives that say what should be but isn’t. How is it that we have all the ingredients to live a fulfilling life, yet we are not? Who is responsible for this situation?

It is our beliefs! Not the ones that lift us but pull us down or keep us in a situation where evolution is impossible. These beliefs prevent us from living according to who we are and experiencing what we want.

Thus, our frustrations and suffering are proportional to this gap, generated by our limiting beliefs, between our deepest desires and what we experience. But the good news is that it is possible to get rid of them by replacing them with resource (positive) beliefs.

Here are some tips on how to do this:

When a negative emotion arises in you, take a deep breath and step back.
Stepping back allows you to observe what is happening without over-identifying with the experience and to put words to the emotions driving you.
Example: My partner had a drink with his ex. I feel bad, depressed, and jealous.

From this observer position, listen to the words and phrases that come to mind.
What are they telling you about the situation? Realize how they take control of your experience.
Example: I can’t trust him. I’m sure he’ll cheat on me eventually.

These thoughts are trying to impose themselves on you to create a reality that conforms to your beliefs, which you need to identify at this point.
Example: Men are not faithful; that’s a fact.

Next, look at your experience in a new light.
From there, positively transform your belief that was keeping you in the drama until now.
Example: It would never occur to my partner to do things behind my back. He has always been honest with me; authenticity is one of his personality traits.

Changing your story can generate positive feelings that will transform your thoughts. Thus, you will gradually build your resource beliefs, experience your reality in a new and positive way and live in harmony with your true nature.

Of course, this work of identifying beliefs sometimes requires help. Because when they are deeply rooted in us (which is most of the time the case), it is difficult to access them.

I often have to do this work of reflection with my clients, leading them further on their path of consciousness and transformation each time. What a privilege it is for me to witness this!
